Just thought I would share my comments on a discussion regarding artists who when asked for their website, give out a facebook or myspace addy.
A proper DotCom is a low cost investment that requires a modest skill set. If the artist can't create their own site, I'm pretty sure they know a nephew or niece that can do one for them. Heck they can even reach out to their fans and give out promo CDs for logos, various artwork and/or web development.
Bottom line: If you're using the internet to promote yourself and/or sell your product then the first thing you'll need is a permanent presence on the internet, it's e-business 101 not advanced rocket science.
