DJ Angel “Smiley” aka “Angel Productions”, Spanish Harlem’s legendary and undisputed king of house and freestyle.
I am known in Spanish Harlem as “Smiley” by my childhood friends. My professional music career started in 1981 with mixed cassette tapes named D.J. Angel Productions. I was also known for my jumping parties throughout El Barrio (Spanish Harlem, N.Y.C.) My specialty at the time was sweet sixteen parties, Glamorous 18’s, weddings, and my much sought-after mixed tapes I sold out of Double Sound car stereo shop at East 106 Between 3rd and Lexington Avenue in the early ’90s.
Thanks to the legendary Dj Raul Soto of Gothams West I started humbly as a bathroom break DJ for Raul at the Legendary Latin Quarter club on 47th street. From there thanks to my friend DJ Sean James of 10-18 it was El Morrocco on east 54th street from 1992 – 1993.
The NYC clubs I previously played at were, Chippendales, Les Poulets, El Morocco, Club Deco, The City, The Sound Factory Bar, The Original Latin Quarter at 47th & B’way, Club Exit, Sequoia Bar @ The South Street Seaport, The New Manila Bar, Club 2ii’s, Nell’s, The China Club as a guest DJ, The Copacabana @ 57th Street, The Circle Club (Bronx N.Y.), The Winners Palace (Bronx N.Y.) Club Booms (Bronx, N.Y.) The Country Club @ E 86th Street, NYC.
Currently, after 40 plus years of playing music from Vinyl to the digital age. I am the current resident DJ for ChristoMelis Productions at the Daytona Beach Hard Rock Hotel, A resident DJ at Salsa Bembe Bar & Grill in Yonkers, NY & for Escape Latino restaurant in New Rochelle, NY
My current playlist & music menu caters to a grown and sexy mature crowd that loves Disco, Funk, R&B, House Music, Dance/Freestyle & Latin Music
