The High Def Thread - Blu Ray and HD DVD

Its just HD DVD ideas Redux.
Its funny how Warner Bros is now supporting Chineese HD DVD because of the bootleging going on in those places. The regular DVD movies have to be sold at $3.00-$5.00 American just so they can compete.
Now these HD DVD's will sell for around $10.00.

The point is that all of the things that these Anti HD DVD companies said they were never gonna do are now having to eat their words.

I do applaud Disney on making a complete seperate disc for the DVD.
But these will retail for $30.00 or more.

Rhoq:
What was that site you gave me for cheap Blu Rays?

Not sure if this is the wrong thread for off subject r just way off lol, but I thought I seen a commercial for disney movies on blu ray and said that a dvd of the movie would be packed in. If so I think thats freakin awesome. This could really help push bluray even further if they decide to do this with all movies.

Yes, it's true. Disney did it with Sleeping Beauty and Pinnochio. Fox just started doing this as well. Both the The Princess Bride and Marley & Me Blu-ray releases include the DVD ('Marley & Me' also contains a 3rd disc with the "digital copy" bullshit).

I don't remember, but it was most-likely http://www.blu-rayboxsets.com

They are a portal for the "Amazon Marketplace". I've shopped there once or twice in the past and made out very well. ;)

The only downside is since these transactions are made with Amazon's 3rd party sellers, Prime shipping is not available and you have to pay for shipping, but since it's still being sold via Amazon you're still protected by their normal policies.

Sorry. We have a special CPR fund set up for this set.
LOL!

Hey CPR -

I just made an order with this place and they have decent prices on both Blu-ray and HD DVD. The only downside is that many of the discs appear to be Canadian, but if there are any Candian-only releases you've been wanting to import you might want to take a look. They are based in both New York & Quebec, so the cool thing is - no premium fees for importing!

I've been ordering from the for a while.
They take a bit long but they are pretty good.
I was just about to post a link to this great place.

I've purchased many titles and they are highly recommended.

By the way.
Costco has alot of Warner Catalog titles for $12.99 on Blu Ray.

Yesterday was the first time I had ever heard of them. I pre-ordered Fanboys on Blu-ray from them via eBay. I watched a DVD quality rip of it over the weekend and I don't know what the Weistein's were thinking by not releasing it on Blu-ray, in the U.S., last week. It was pretty damn good. It's not out until next Tuesday (June 2nd) in Canada, so if I don't get it until the following week, it's cool.

Fan Boys is a movie that has been fracked with for a while now.
They delayed the release and had issues even finishing it.

They wanted the cancer storyline out and then they only released it in limited theaters.

It was badly reviewed as well.

Now there's no Blu Ray of it; SUCKS.

BLAME CANADA! LOL!

What happened with Fanboys was a damn shame. It was delayed by what, a year and a half? The Weinsteins wanted the cancer storyline cut (they felt it was a "bummer") and every time it was given a theatrical release date it got pushed back. By the time it was released (back in February), it was in such a limited release, that barely anyone knew it was out. Only 1 theater in Philly showed it and it was gone within 2 weeks, so I missed it. Mainstream reviewers hated it, but the geeky on-line reviewers loved it. Hell - Ethan Suplee had a cameo as the "head geek" himself, Harry Knowles.

Bottom line is - if any Weinstein Company release catered to the crowd that would most likely own a Blu-ray player or two, it is "Fanboys". Luckily for us, Alliance is releasing it in Canada next week.

I have a feeling that TWC is still bitter about their investment in HD DVD. I remember it was reported that one of their HD DVD releases sold fewer than 100 copies (I'm pretty it was Feast and something like only 86 were sold), so they are probably waiting to see how well the "Fanboys" DVD sells before preparing a High Def release on Blu-ray. This is the same company that never did a "day & date" with their HD DVD releases, so it's possible they might be going back to that strategy for these niche releases.

Received Fanboys today. Not bad considering it was shipped (from Canada) last Thursday (May 28th).

I love Inetvideo. I just hate the wait.
Congrats on getting the movie in a week.

Thanks to CPR and Crystal, I finally watched Seasons 1 through 3 of Dexter, just in time to catch Season 4, first-run, next month. Luckily DirecTV offers Showtime On Demand in HD. Loved it. I've got the Seasons 1-3 Blu-ray bundle on order from Amazon. It comes out when Season 3 is released on the 18th.

The 3rd season was a slow burner. The first 3 or 4 episodes were a bit boring compared to the first 2 seasons, but once the Dexter Morgan/Miguel Prado relationship kicked into high gear, it was well worth the slow set-up. Thanks again for the recommendation. :)
