Question????

Ok, homer I downloaded that program and it said I have 45 errors, and the trial version only cleans 20 errors. It's cleaning it now. Now what do I do? I have Trend Micro anti virus + spyware, but it's about to expire in 60 days, and I need to get a new one.

Just renew your subscription with Trend micro if you like it. I've always used Mcaffee software.

It will do you no good to do this now YOU FIRST HAVE TO CLEAN THE PC OF ALL VIRUSES! Don't waste your time trying to clean it you will fail. REFORMAT the PC. Give it to someone who knows and you will not waste time. Trust me I do it for a living. The fastest way is to reformat and start from scratch, your pc is infected already the antivirus will not clean it up now, too late. Just reformat it.

Freddy you dont have to format all the time. Its a pain. I do it as a last resort. Try those prgrams in safe mode. Run them and then restart again in safe mode and run them again. If all else fails. the Reinstall windows. DONT format, just do a reinstall. If THAT doesnt work the go ahead and format. Freddy gets his viruses from gay porn sites. Thats why he has to format like every week R O F L L !!@#$%^&*(

Before you reformat your computer (since thats a pain in the ass cause all of your files will now be all in one file then you need to put things back where you want them, and thats even if you hit restore keeping all your files). I dont know what happened to the thread yesterday, hopefully I didnt delete it by accident, at least your not banned as a spammer so thats good lol.

What anitvirus program do you use? Go here and download, update then run this program. Its free and safe. http://download.cnet.com/Ad-Aware-A...045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5

I would also recommend Windows defender like Wil said. I never used that program but I've heard of it and will probably do that myself. Another one is spybot search and destroy. All of these are free (although they offer a better version that you need to pay for) and they will do a good job of getting rid of spyware. Antispyware programs like these are different than firewalls and antivirus programs where with those two you really don't want more than 1 as with intispyware its ok to have a few because one might pick up something the other doesnt and they usually dont interfere with one another.

Try these before you reformat and get back to us. dont forget to tell us what ur intivirus is.

None of these programs will work Homie. I do this for a living and it has been a pain in the ass to deal with. Our only solution is to refomat the hard drive and reinstall the OS. The virus, renames itself, it hides and even if a anti virus program does detect it and delete it, the virus hides itself and renames itself so you don't actually get it. Look up the Conficker virus. And you wouldn't have this problem if you had a Mac :)

I disagree with both you and Freddy. Sure I am not expert, not at all but I have had bad viruses and some took me a while to get off but found a way to and they never came back. Sure it wasnt easy and not saying that those programs will work but might work and are worth a shot since she dont know if its indeed a virus.

I'm so lost!!!! I don't know how to reformat or what that even means. I don't know how to get in safe mode, I think I did it once but didn't even know how I got there.

Give it some time, and soon enough even the Mac users will also need software to protect them from Spyware, virus, malware, hack's ect...Soon enough...

Let's get back on topic here my friends. Who can talk Lvr through a re-formatting?

First of, you need to know that all your documents will be gone if you don't have a backup. Then you need to have the recovery disc in order to restore it if any.

1- Your PC will have to boot from the cd rom. You do this by going in to your bios settings. I don't know what machine you have but you might want to google it. Example: bios setting on a brand here

On a dellwhen you see the dell logo hit f12 on keyboard a couple of times while your pc is booting up and it gets to the dells screen, it will give you the option to boot from cd rom. If not, you will have to hit the f2 button to take you to bios settings, then go to the boot menu and choose boot from CD rom as your first choice. Save and exit. Place the cd in the cd rom and restart it. When asked to boot from cd say yes. You will follow the wizard to reformat your HD. Read all directions carefully and you will be fine. (Even a caveman can do it) Once it has been installed, you will need to DL some drivers for your PC, so make sure you have all the cd's before or at least make sure you know where to go to find them. Usually, I get them from www.devicedrivers.com they usually have all the ones I need or else you will have to find them else where.

I recommend getting someone who is familiar with this. When you don't have the knowledge you will come into some problems like not finding drivers or not knowing how to install them.
Try to find someone who can help you if possible.

Well I ran the program and it said it found 2 trojans, but only one could be deleted.

1.Have you tried TrendMicro's online scan to see if it can remove the other Trojan?

2. if you don't want to use Trend after your subscription is done you can use Avast antivirus and they let you use for free for a year with free updates.

3. Once you get rid of the trojan go to www.superantispyware.com
download free trial run see if it finds anything and get rid of what it finds. then uninstall it's really good in a pinch.

4. Yes use Windows defender can download from windows updates and Downloads.

5. Yes have at least 1 Antivirus software (most won't work well if you have others installed) and at least 2 anti spyware programs.(helps when one misses something) Also check your security settings in internet explorer as many people who get infected regularly (who aren't surfing questionable places) Have this set too low causing the easy and repeated infections.

6. If you don't know how to format or reinstall your OS or restore to a previously good point then get someone who knows to walk you thru or to do it for you! It is the worse feeling for people to try and do something and have their pc not do anything anymore like boot!

7. I wish I was close by I'd come do it for you no charge! ;)

I wish you were close too, I do have a guy that works with me, but he be charging me a lot. I did try the Trend Micro and it didn't pick up the other Trojan. What's weird is that I don't have anything popping up saying I have a virus, this whole thread was started because I keep getting pop ups. Don't know if that has anything to do with the other.

Normally you get the pop ups/ or pop unders first which you end up getting spyware/grayware/malware. Which if you get one of the bad ones you end up with Trojans and Virii. Your guy shouldn't be charging you that much.
At most when I do charge someone I charge them $25 to remove the Virii and other offending software. Also installing some of the software I mentioned in previous post and show how to use it.
Or wipe the drive and reinstall from your Cds or recovery partition.
If your guy is charging too much you can check local college and see if they have free PC or low cost pc repair. Out here they charge $10-$30 to remove virii and show you how to secure your PC.
Hope that Helps and good luck!
