I though haveing a thread for the DJ that Use or want to use controlers or are interested in controlerism

Controlers are any Hardware device used to control your digital Music

They are used for

DJ' ing and Mixing
Music production

and usually use Midi or DAW platforms (Digital Audio Workstation)

PS turntablist using TCV ( Time coded vinyl ) are esencially converting a recordplayer into a Controller.

Either way Controlers & controlerism is BLOWING UP

SO feel free to add / comment discuss or ask question here !!

I would post some You tube Vids but I dont know How ???

But Go to You Tube and search

4 channel

Midi Controler and

4 channel Analog MIXER COMBINED

and only $500 smackers this thing is a Herc RMX on STEROIDS :xeek::xyes:

[nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LufGPR8th4"]YouTube - American Audio VMS4 | ProAudioStar.com[/nomedia]

although the buttons are the soft rubber... smush w/ a click type

Although the RMX can do just about every thing the VMS4 can do but you have to togle decks or use the keyboard/ mouse for deck 3 & 4

this is SO close to the Tractor S4 ( $ 800 buck+ ) and the S4 seemed plasticy to me... I went to gutartcenter and play with the APC 40 ( 300$ ) the VMS4 ( 500$ ) and the Tractor S4 ( 800$)

compared to s V7 + mixer 800 + 200 = 1000k
or NS7 @ 1200k

or two decks pluss mixer & serato & TCV ????????$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ?????? 2-3K +

These controler KEEP GETTING COOLER STURDIER / MORE and more functional & CHEAPER

the VMS4 has 4 inputs and 4 outputs / 2 mics / its just sick can some one post a you tube vid of it in action on this thread !!!

funk-o-mart plug & play section on the Numark MDX 800

So I skipped lunch & stopped by The new location of Funk -o-Mart

and tested out a few controllers -

I just traded a friend for about 500+ songs and had them ripped to a USB stick SO this time I had some of my own music to toy with

the music was split into the following folders

80 hip hop & Electric
90's Rap
Funk
Freestyle
80' Dance ( Top forty party tunes)

I found two set ups that were "Juiced Up" & plugged in

and I am not the ask for permission type SOOO i commenced to Plug & Play !!!!
heheheeh

the first set up that worked was a Numark NDX 800 USB controller & CD player ( its set up Like a CDJ )

the external mixer was a lower model numark ( but all the essentials are there )

I am not used to Mixin with out a computer screen or software But the NDX 800 does have a digital display for searching tracks & folders operated by a multifunctional "smart" Knob that was quite easy to figure out .

effects were on par / loops rather straight forward in there functionality /
Hot cues were sweet with press once to set / press again to play ...

But Man , the Jog wheel on this thing was pretty impressive
SO precise . Its touch sensitive with several settings . SO sharp cuts were indeed capable beyond my abilities.
( I use the Herc RMX / jog wheels are small & not touch sensitive , fyi )

I have tinkered with other High priced controllers with touch sensitive jog wheels and some were so sensitive that it felt NOTHING like vinyl.
or some were too clunky / with different pieces that felt like actually pushing a big cheap rotating button ???

This was not the case with the MDX 800 I was surprised how solid yet natural it felt .

I do not use Numark or CD Decks but I have to say Adda Boy for this rig as an option for a mid priced / modern replacement for DJ's that Prefer CD Decks but want to easily venture into controllers / midi / usb etc. type of functionality but do not want to be tied to software 100% of the time.

It is NOT a "midi" controller per say / but it is a "music controller" that has a significant advantage over older CD players in its price range. I would expect it to Midi mappable if need be ( but honestly I do not know for sure )

I've been drooling over this for sometime now. I like it way better than Pioneer DDJ T1/S1. Especially since I've seen some djs have been able to midi map the denon to serato, including the platter and not only is the unit rackable it also includes the mounting racks.

I've seen the Denon DNMC6000 already on back order on a few sites. I guess it's really popular.

Raf - I thought I remembered U being a Dennon Guy, if your a fan of dennon that is the Digital rig for You

& that acp 40 video is DOPE and that guy is using two computers too ????!!!!!
& how did he post a 40 min You tube video ??? hahahah

I use the 4 decks on my RMX & VDJ7 and LOVE it now that I am used to it
I use the C&D 3rd/4th decks loaded with an istrumental or an accapella .

Glad to see people are as interested in controlers ~ they are so rediculously versatile !!!!!

Now the majority of them that are coming out are Analog Mixers & Digital controler combined ....its just sick

So the second set I did at Funk-O-mart was on ...I think a Numark idj ?? it was long and all conected with a I pod dock in the center .....But it had a USB port & juice ..so I started to plug and play .....

this thing SUCKED ....it was stiff / plasticy jog wheels Bleaeakh / functionality was similar to the MDX800 but way less user freindly it just seemed half rate ??

Yea been looking at that unit for some time. But I'm still good with the HC 4500 so I'm not sure if I want to change yet. I do like how it's rackable and it's an all in one controller. So we'll see what happens after the summer.

I think they left out the APC (and the Launch Pad) because they are more of a controller for Ableton and they don't have any jog wheels.

OKAY OKAY !!!!!

I am slightly biased toward the RMX as the most versitile Midi control vs quality vs $$$ Coin ( less than $300 )

BUT there is a new competitor in the mid priced midi controlers w/ pro fuctionality

Numark Mix Track Pro

IT'S A MODERATLY PRICED mIDI CONTROLER BUT!!!!!

iT HAS THOSE NEW ULTRA WICKET JOG WHEELS AS THE NDX800!!!!!

BUT DONT BELIEVE ME ...............here what it can do in very capable hands of a classicly trained Turntablist / turned Controlerist

see for your self :

NEW Ns6

Okay if

The NS7

and the mixtrack pro ( shown above )

had a baby - its would be the ns6:eek:

Its a smaller Ns7 style rig with out moter driven decks / but with an upgraded
version of the NDX800 jog wheels

and four chanel faders with four channel version of Serato
it has all the NEW Must haves to compete in the new 4 channel & effects rack / hot cue / loop roll built in market

they are taking on the pioneer DDJS1 head on !!!!

Pioneer two faders & itch
Newmark four chanels & four channel version of itch

The problem is that its $900-$1000 bucks ??!!!
